Lighting Finds
As owner/builders there were many challenges associated with building the Tree House. When it came to lighting we discovered that implementing an electrical plan didn't have to be that expensive, if one could get past the conventions normally associated with it. We spent many hours simplifying the plan, and many more hours sourcing the actual fixtures. We forged ahead, and are so pleased with the outcome.
The key light fixtures were sourced from digital platforms, specialty merchant websites, and good old-fashioned shops. I had to learn not to rush a purchase–to be patient, knowing that the right light would eventually be found. By 'slow' shopping I learned lighting fundamentals, period specific light design, vintage light restoration tips, and how lighting–at its best–can be magical. Sourcing vintage lighting and vintage inspired lighting became one of the most rewarding parts of the build experience.
