Depth of Field with Layer Mask [13 mgs]
Using a layer mask and gradient provides an interesting effect
.

This video refers to an older text - but the steps should be easy enough to follow to complete this week's homework.


TEXT Tutorials:

1. WATCH Video Lesson 9: The Layered Composition. P.304.

2. OPTIONAL - Arranging and Modifying Layers P. 307-328. You may like to skim over this tutorial and hone in on any new information. Some of the short cuts and a review of the fx in the layers palette (p. 318) are important for you to know.

3. DO Masks, Knockouts, and Luminance Blending P. 329-340. This tutorial works with clipping masks and using gradients - really good info here.

4. READ Working with Layer Comps P. 341. Good information here for your consideration.

5. READ Aligning Layers and Blending Photographs - Please read as you never know when this technique may come in handy.

WEEK SIX: {JUly 21-24}

Lesson 15: {wednesday, July 23} FINAL REVIEW

There is no new material today. Review techniques and photoshop tools from the past lessons. Your final requires you to cover many of the techniques and concepts covered in ALL of the lessons.

Of particular importance are: clean compositing and/or excellent quality graphics, effective and legible typography (look at magazine covers in print form to understand proportion, placement, and legibility), choose and execute an effective color scheme, and develop an interesting concept that you effectively communicate on your cover.
YOU NEED AN ORIGINAL and outstanding photograph or graphic for your cover!

Doublecheck the final requirements to make sure you meet the criteria.


Final magazine cover due: Thursday, July 24. Please post the final magazine cover + any 3 homeworks (or more!) of your choice since the mid-term in your blog.
